Led by freshman Betty Chen, who carded a four-round score of 296, the UC Davis Aggies finished 16th at the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship at the University of Georgia Golf Course, their best showing in three trips to the prestigious event. They were 21st in 2008 and then placed 20th in their last appearance in 2011.
Friday proved to be the toughest day on the course for the 24 teams with only champion USC shooting par. The Aggies were 25 over in the last round, finishing at 51-over 1,203 for the 72-hole championship.
Chen concluded the NCAA Championship tied for 32nd while three-time Big West Golfer of the Year Demi Runas closed out her collegiate career with a 298 performance, tying her for 37th. Sophomore Beverly Vatananugulkit shot a team-best 4-over 76 in the final round to pace the Aggies and finished the event tied for 73rd. Senior Amy Simanton tied for 102nd and freshman Andrea Wong tied for 109th.
USC's Annie Park shot 71 on Friday and finished 10-under 278 to claim the individual national championship by six strokes over Lindy Duncan of Duke.
