Jaimé Serna (Laguna Beach, Calif./Santa Margarita HS) made 76.5 percent of his shots and nearly averaged a double-double in a pair of UC Santa Barbara road wins, giving the senior Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolades.

Serna knocked down 13 of his 17 field goal attempts as the Gauchos toppled UC Davis (86-59) and Pacific (56-53) to improve to 6-2 in league play and grab sole possession of second place.  The 6-8 forward also averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Against the Aggies, Serna drained 9 of 10 floor shots for 18 points and added five rebounds and a blocked shot to his stat line.  The 9-for-10 performance was the best by a Gaucho since Mike Vukovich went 12-for-12 from the floor in a win at Pacific in February of 2001.

Serna was pivotal in the narrow victory at Pacific.  He posted his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds, but most of that production was in the second half when he had 13 points and seven caroms.  Serna canned 7 of 8 from the free throw line as well.

His shooting abilities gave Serna career field goal numbers of 297-of-526, 56.5%, the third-highest percentage in school history.

Others nominated:  Omondi Amoke (Cal State Fullerton); Stephan Hicks (Cal State Northridge); James Ennis (Long Beach State); Will Davis II (UC Irvine); Phil Martin (UC Riverside); Lorenzo McCloud (Pacific)
