Cal State Northridge junior Nick Delio carded an opening round four-over-par 76 and is tied for 103rd after one round of the NCAA Championship at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Delio was two-under-par after posting birdies on the opening two holes and was still at two-under after six holes. But a triple-bogey seven on the par-four seventh and a bogey on the par-three eighth hole dropped him to two-over as the front nine concluded.
He maintained a two-over-par score through much of the back nine before posting bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes, dropping him to four-over 76.
Delio, who tees off the second round at 8:55 a.m. local time on Wednesday, advanced to the NCAA Championships after earning top medalist honors at the NCAA Southwest Regional Championship in San Diego, Calif.
