Cal Poly Women Set To Host Annual Event: The Cal Poly women's golf team will host the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational on Nov. 1-2 at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, Calif. A total of 16 teams are in the field which includes Big West members Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge and UC Riverside. Following a practice round Saturday, the approximately 90 golfers will play the first round of the two-day event on Sunday with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start. Final round is set for Monday with split tee times from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. This year the course will be 6,022 yards with par 72. Cal Poly has won the Lamkin Grip Invitational three times while Cal State Northridge and UC Davis each has a pair of titles.

The Tigers Kickoff November With Pacific Invitational: The Pacific Tigers are set to host the Pacific Invitational Nov. 2-4 at the Brookside Country Club. This year's 12-team field includes Brigham Young, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Denver, Fresno State, Kansas State, Oregon, host Pacific, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Saint Mary's and UC Davis. Last year Kansas State held on to a two-stroke lead to become tournament champions, while Marquette's Mike Van Sickle was the top individual with a three-round total of 209.

Anteaters Grab Second Place At Intercollegiate With Help From Top-Five Tandem: Spearhead by a pair of Anteaters that placed in the top five, the UC Irvine women's golf team captured second place at the "Give Em Five" Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. with a three-day total of 878 (294-290-294). Junior Hillary Packard fired back-to-back rounds of one-under-par 71 to finish third, while sophomore Joy Trotter placed fourth after carding a three-round total of 217. This marked the first top-three finish of the season for UC Irvine, who is currently ranked 40th in the Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings.

Pacific, UC Riverside Men Shined At Bill Cullum Invitational: Firing a career-low 66 in the first round of the Bill Cullum Invitational helped Alex Johnson capture top medalist honors with a three-round 207. His efforts assisted in the Tigers taking the team title with an eight-shot advantage. Pacific fired a 21-under total of 843, setting a new school and tournament record.

Using the lowest team round of the tournament on the final round of play, UC Riverside leapfrogged into second place out of 17 teams at the Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Course. The Highlanders found themselves tied for fourth place with the final round remaining, but used a 67, 69, 69 and 70 in the third round to bring their three-round total to 851. Like Johnson, Kevin Fitzgerald also shot a career-best 66 in the second round of competition to propel him to his best finish ever - second place.

Cal Poly's Fletcher, Cal State Northridge's Nick Delio Named Big West October Golfers of the Month: Cal Poly's Maddy Fletcher and Cal State Northridge's Nick Delio each recorded top 10 finishes during the month of October to claim Big West Golfer of the Month honors.

Delio posted two top-10 finishes and one top-20 finish in the month of October to help lift Cal State Northridge to two impressive finishes - 2nd, Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and 3rd, Bill Cullum Invitational. In his first tournament, the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Delio fired a one-over-par 217 (70-69-78) to place 9th. Two weeks later at the Del Walker Intercollegiate, the Valencia, Calif., native blasted a three-under total of 207 to land 13th out of 98 golfers. Delio took advantage of the Matadors' home course for the Bill Cullum Invitational and notched an eight-under 208 (67-72-69) to secure second place. He was one stroke shy of being the top individual of the event.

Fletcher guided the Mustangs to two top-three finishes in the month of October, which included the top prize at their home tournament - the Firestone Grill College Invitational. The Los Alamitos, Calif., native began the month firing a three-round score of 226 to place second in the field of 56 at the Firestone Invitational. A week later she grabbed the second slot once again, this time posting a two-round 146 at the Lady Aztec Fall Classic. Fletchers performance at the San Diego State event was a career best two-round total while her 226 at the Mustangs home event was the second highest three-round score of her four-year career. She currently paces Cal Poly with a 75.1 scoring average and three top-10 finishes.
