UC Irvine junior Brad Evans recorded a game-winning goal and a game-winning assist in two Anteater victories to be selected the Big West Men's Soccer Player of the Week.

Former Anteater All-American Brad Evans has been named to the U.S. Men's National Team that will represent the United States at the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup from July 3rd to July 26th.
Evans, currently a member of Seatle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer, is the first Anteater to make the full U.S. Men's National Team. Evans previously had played on the U.S. U-20 National Team at the 2005 World Youth Championships in Holland.
"The selection of Brad Evans to the National team at this juncture is a tremendous accomplishment in his storied career and another milestone for the UC Irvine men's program," UC Irvine head coach George Kuntz said.
Currently tied for third in goals for Seattle with two on the year, Evans has played the second most minutes (1,339) for Sounders FC this season.
The U.S. team will open the Gold Cup Saturday, July 4th at Qwest Field in Seattle as they face Grenada. The team then travels to Washington, D.C. to take on Honduras July 8th at RFK Stadium. The U.S. will conclude group play Saturday, July 11th in Foxborough, Mass. as they take on Haiti at Gillette Stadium.
