Cal Poly's Anna Cahn earned her first All-America honor following an outstanding 2009 season. |
6/8/2009
Following a brilliant sophomore campaign in which she was named Big West Pitcher of the Year and All-West Region honors, Cal Poly's Anna Cahn continued her awards haul as she was named third team All-America by Easton.
The first team All-Big West selection led the Big West in wins (28) and innings pitched (252.2), while Cahn also ranked second among conference hurlers with 160 strikeouts, third with a 1.80 ERA and fourth with a .226 opposing batting average. A four-time Big West Pitcher of the Week selection, Cahn struck out 10-plus hitters on four occasions and, on March 7, became one of only 10 Division I pitchers this season to toss a perfect game during an 8-0 rout of Utah State.
At the plate, Cahn finished second among Big West hitters in RBI (41) and walks (30), third in on-base percentage (.443), sixth in batting average (.338) and eighth with a .497 slugging percentage, 52 hits and 72 total bases. Cahn also recorded 15 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI outings.
Cahn is the first Mustang to earn Easton All-America praise since center fielder Lisa Modglin garnered first team honors in 2007.
