UC Irvine Women's Golf Sits 23rd After Day One Of NCAA Championships

UC Irvine sits in 23rd place after shooting a season-high 320 in the first round of the NCAA Championships at the Caves Valley Golf Club in Owing Mills, Maryland.

Denver leads the field with a score of 294 with the Pioneers' Stephanie Sherlock tied for the individual lead with Catherine O'Donnell of North Carolina after carding a two-under-par 70. UCLA finds itself is second place with a total of 296, followed by North Carolina in third with a 299 team total.

Senior Jane Chin led the Anteaters with a three-over 75 which ties her for 25th place. Junior Patty Chawalitmetha shot a 78 and is 60th, while freshman Lalita Patipaksiri fired an 80 and is in 91st place. Sophomore Hillary Packard and freshman Joy Trotter each carded an 87 to tie for 121st.

Playing as an individual, UC Davis sophomore Alice Kim blasted a two-over-par 74, to tie for 12th place. Kim qualified for the NCAA Finals by finishing the NCAA West Regional as the top individual. She is being joined at this week's tournament near Baltimore by five other individual qualifiers and 24 teams.
