The UC Irvine women’s golf team and UC Davis' Alice Kim, competing as an individual, will participate in the NCAA Championships May 19-22 at the Caves Valley Golf Club, Owing Mills, Maryland.
UC Irvine will join Denver, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, Tulane, Duke, North Carolina, Georgia, UCLA, Purdue, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, New Mexico, Ohio State, Chattanooga, Arizona State, USC, LSU, TCU, Texas, Arizona, Pepperdine in the tournament field. The UC Irvine women's golf team advanced to the championship after tying for fourth place in the NCAA West Regional at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz. By finishing in the top eight, Coach Julie Brooks' Anteaters earned a berth in the NCAA Finals, the program's third appearance in the last five years at the NCAA Championship as the 2005 team finished 18th and the '07 squad 19th at the finals.
UC Davis' Alice Kim is making her second consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship after firing a two-under-par 69 during Saturday's final round of the NCAA West Regional, finishing in eighth-place and earning a spot in the national finals.
