Pacific sophomore Jenifer Widjaja was selected to compete in the 2009 NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship, which takes place May 20-25 in College Station, Tex.
The No. 1 singles player for the Tigers earned the Big West automatic bid into the 64-player field on the basis of being the conference's highest ranked singles player in the Campbell/ITA rankings. The native of Sao Roque, Sao Paulo, Brazil is No. 92 in the most recent rankings released on April 28. Widjaja, in her first season as a Tiger, earned a ranking as high as No. 84 on Mar. 31.
Widjaja posted an 18-4 record in singles for the season. She defeated then-No. 54 Jennifer-Lee Heinser of San Francisco on Feb. 16. The All-Big West First Team performer will learn of her first round opponent when the matchups are announced in May.
