UC Davis senior forward Quincy Amarikwa gained more national fame Wednesday as his goal on October 11 on the road against conference rival UC Santa Barbara was named 2008 College Goal of the Year by Soccer America.

Amarikwa used one of the more exciting tools in soccer, the bicycle kick, to tally a score against the Gauchos. The ball was served up from teammate Ian Conklin in the box and Amarikwa sprawled backwards and met the ball at the height of his bicycle kick. The shot sailed into the upper left corner of the goal past a diving UCSB goalkeeper.

That was one of a conference-best 15 goals for Amarikwa on the season, a stunning campaign which netted him Big West Offensive Player of the Year honors and first team All-Big West accolades.

The video footage of the goal is currently accessible on the front page of the Aggies website at ucdavisaggies.com and on YouTube at the link above.
