Five days of competition are in store for Big West track & field fans as the league's squads prepare for one of the busier weekends of competition prior to the conference meet in mid May.
The action starts Wednesday as five teams will compete in the California Invite Heptathlon/Decathlon in Azusa, Calif., on the campus of Azusa Pacific University. Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, UC Davis, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara are set to complete in the multi-event showcase, set to be completed over two days. Cal State Northridge will also be in competition prior to the weekend as the Matadors make a short trip to Cal State LA for the Cal State LA Twilight Open Wednesday night.
The action will really pick up over the weekend as conference clubs are slated to compete in three different meets. Most of the Big West will be in Walnut, Calif., at the 50th Annual Mt. SAC Relays, one of the biggest meets on the west coast. Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UC Santa Barbara will have contigents competing against some of the finest athletes both regionally and nationally.
In addition, Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State will pull double duty as both will complete in the Long Beach Invitational Saturday, while UC Davis hosts the Woody Wilson Classic on the same day.
