Harris Leads Gauchos To Share Of Big West Regular Season Championship

UC Santa Barbara's Alex Harris (Alameda, Calif./Notre Dame St. Joseph's HS) scored 46 points in two wins to help the Gauchos to a share of the conference regular season title and the Big West Tournament No. 1 seed, earning him Player of the Week accolades.
 
The 6-6 guard averaged 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in victories at Cal State Northridge (77-66) and Long Beach State (70-68 in OT).
    
His free throw with 0.3 seconds remaining in overtime at Long Beach State broke a tie and helped UCSB to the overtime triumph.  He finished with 21 points, hitting 6 of 11 from the field and 8 of 9 at the free throw line.
   
In the win over the Matadors, Harris posted 25 points, seven rebounds and three steals.  He went to the free throw line 16 times, converting 12 attempts, and added a trio of threes in the game.
   
Harris notched his 14th and 15th games with 20 or more points this season.  He shot 80.0% (20 of  25) from the free throw line for the week.  This is the third Player of the Week award this season for Harris.
