It’s Championship Week in the Big West, and BigWest.TV will carry the 2008 Big West Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments LIVE from the Anaheim Convention Center beginning Wednesday, March 12.  The women’s tournament begins with a first-round match-up between (8) UC Irvine and (5) Cal Poly at 12:00 p.m. PST, followed by (7) Long Beach State and (6) Cal State Fullerton approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.  Women’s coverage will extend through the semi-final games on Friday, March 14, while the women’s championship will air on FSN Prime Ticket on Saturday, March 15 at 12:00 p.m.

 

Men’s tournament coverage begins on Wednesday, March 12 with (8) Long Beach State and (5) UC Irvine tipping at 6:00 p.m., followed by (7) UC Riverside and (6) Cal Poly.  BigWest.TV will air the first two rounds of the men’s tourney, with the semi-finals on Friday, March 14 being carried by ESPNU and the championship game airing on ESPN2 on Saturday, March 15 at 8:00 p.m.

While the Big West Basketball Tournament starts on Wednesday, baseball kicks off its week on Tuesday, March 11 with a pair of games.  The Cal Poly Mustangs host UC Santa Barbara in a game marked as a non-conference contest between the Central Coast teams, and Cal State Fullerton welcomes San Diego to Goodwin Field.  First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.  Ten more baseball games are on the schedule, with at least one game airing each day, Wednesday, March 12 to Sunday, March 16.

 

Pacific softball is the only Big West team to broadcast this week, with a pair of double-headers on the schedule.  The Tigers will host Santa Clara on Wednesday, March 12 beginning at 1:00 p.m. and then will take on Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday, March 16 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
